If you are wondering how to mount a tv on a brick wall, then there is good news for you. As Tv Wall Mounting team, we can say that hanging a tv is not that difficult. All you need is to pay close attention while mounting tv on brick, that you keep the mounting bracket on the level and the screws you use are going into the studs.
Essentially, mounting tv into brick is the same in theory, but you don’t have to think about hitting the studs, and maybe a little bit more drilling is required.
On our back porch, we recently mounted a TV on the brick chimney. But we were considering that we were going to record the method and show you how we did it.
Here’s all you will need to start the work:
- Hammer Drill
- 3/16″ Masonry Drill Bit
- Impact Driver
- 1/4″ Masonry Screws

But first, can you mount a TV on a brick wall?
Certainly. However, mounting a television on brick requires more planning, experience, and equipment than mounting tv on drywall.
How To Hang A Tv On A Brick Wall?
First, you need to find out where you’re going to place the TV
If you have a special design, you usually want to place a TV horizontally in the middle of the wall. To find the middle point, we measured the width of our brick chimney and made a mark. So what about the height? Here are the suggested heights you need to install a size-based TV:
TV Size Height from floor to TV Center
The position of the power outlet is another thing to remember while mounting your TV. We like our TV to be installed so that the outlet is at the top of the TV. That way, without the power plug messing with the volume of tilt, the TV can be tilted down some.
It’s time to drill the holes now that you have decided exactly where you want to put the TV. As stated before, this is where the technique varies from installing a TV on a normal framed wall plus drywall.
We kept in place our mounting bracket and then used a pencil to outline the brick where I needed the holes to be drilled.
By using a horizontal mortar joint really took us close to level. But then we took a degree and double-checked it in all marks. Simply change and make a new label if they are off a little.
Also, note that you may need to have a specific masonry drill bit if you want to drill a hole in the brick.
Later, for each mark, you need to use a hammer drill. Keep in mind that the depth of the hole should be the same as the screw length.
Tighten the screws
When you’ve done with all 4 holes, you should hold the mounting bracket in position against the brick. Use a washer for the first screw and drive it into the drilled hole. Continue this for all remaining 3 screws.
Adding the Brackets to the TV
It’s very straightforward this step. You would need to connect the two mounting brackets to the back of the TV using the supplied screws and washers. Be aware that the screws are not over-tightened. Doing so could cause TV harm.
Hanging your TV
This is where you might need some assistance. Get somebody to help you keep the television while the wires are attached, or vice versa. Then you all pick up the TV so that the mounting brackets hook over the wall mount’s top edge. Just confirm to ensure the brackets are safely in place before turning loose of the TV.
